Haematology And Oncology

Patients are treated on our Haematology and Oncology wards with a wide range of cancers including breast cancer, leukaemia, lung and prostate cancer, and are usually in hospital for weeks, if not months.

Lengthy hospital stays can be uncomfortable and stressful for both patients and their families which is why we refurbish the units to make them brighter and more comfortable for those who need to spend long periods of time there.

A new home for Haematology at Heartlands

Heartlands Hospital Charity needs your support to create a new centre for Haematology and Oncology at Heartlands Hospital. The campaign aims to raise £150,000 to fund the new state-of-the-art centre which will treat patients from across Birmingham.

Our environment can have a huge impact on mood and physical health. With the new space, the Charity aims to do all it can to make patient’s surroundings as relaxing and comfortable as possible. Designed to reduce stress, the Heartlands Haematology and Oncology Centre will give cancer patients a calm, relaxing surrounding for appointments and treatments which they may need for weeks, if not months.

Rock legend supports Heartlands Hospital

Black Sabbath guitarist, Tony Iommi joined the Charity for the official launch of the new cancer appeal to help fund the Heartlands Hospital Haematology and Oncology Centre.

Tony, who has recovered from cancer himself, said he wanted to give back to the teams who treated him.

He said: “I didn’t know what I had got...I found this lump and they told me it was Hodgkins Lymphoma.

“I got a lot of help, especially from the hospital. This is why I’m raffling a guitar to raise funds, and if others can donate to Heartlands Hospital Charity, we can give cancer patients the support they need.”
