Heartlands Home Away From Home

It can be a traumatic time for parents whose babies need urgent care because they are sick or born prematurely.

Having a place to stay within two minutes of the Neonatal ward takes the stress away and means they can be with their loved ones all hours of the day. It makes it easier for mum’s needing to breastfeed and parents doing skin to skin, which is so important for baby’s development helping them get better quicker and bond with their mum and dad.

Offering a Sanctuary for Families in Need

The house has all the comforts a family would need and allows siblings to stay as well keeping them together. It has all the mod cons like a Smart TV with beautiful top-of-the-range, solid wood furniture. There’s a convenient open plan kitchen/dining area, a beautifully decorated bathroom and master bedroom as well as a second room which can convert from a spare room with a sofa bed into a games room – perfect for when siblings come to stay. There is also a garden for them to share and parking.

It means so much to the Charity and the University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust to be able to offer free accommodation to parents so they can focus on their babies and not have to worry about commuting from all parts of the country.

If you want to help us with the upkeep of this lifeline for parents going through such a worrying time, please donate today.
