19 year-old Sascha fundraises for QEHB Charity!
Last year, Sascha Lewis decided to fundraise for QEHB Charity after the amazing care they provided for her grandmother Judith.
Last year Judith Chopping 79, was involved in a terrible car accident. Judith had sustained broken ribs all down her right ride, four ribs on the left, a punctured lung, internal abdominal injuries and lesions to her legs and arms- resulting in needing a skin graft. After four major operations she was subsequently put into an induced coma for 10 days on QEHB’s Critical Care ward.
Miraculously Judith survived the nearly fatal accident. In order to say thank you to the hospital that saved her grandmother’s life, Sascha decided to fundraise for QEHB Charity. She took place in the Warwickshire Wolf Run and despite the harsh weather, Sascha carried on, the Charity asked what was the most difficult part of the run, she said: “Definitely the monkey bars. I couldn’t actually finish them! The swim was difficult too… also the water was freezing!”
When asked what she would say to others who wanted to take up fundraising for the hospital charity, she said: “I would say to just do it! It is so important to thank medical staff and show appreciation for all of their hard work. After the hospital saved my Nan, I felt in debt to all of the doctors and nurses who helped her through. Although I am proud of the amount of money I raised for the hospital charity, no amount of money will ever be enough to thank the staff for saving my Nan’s life. I will be eternally grateful and in debt for the rest of my life. Thank you all again!”
Sascha raised a fantastic £885 for the hospital charity! Senior Fundraising Officer, Sophie Carroll said “Thank you so much Sascha for donating such an amazing amount of money for QEHB’s Critical Care unit, your money will be able to provide ‘added extras’ for those who need it most. The charity is extremely grateful for your fundraising efforts!”
