Birmingham hospital charity highlights will writing offers during free wills month
October is Free Wills Month and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, Good Hope Hospital Charity and Solihull Hospital Charity are highlighting the difference gifts in wills can make to your local hospital.
Free Wills Month takes place twice a year, in March and October, and gives people the opportunity to write or update their will for free. The hospital charity has partnered up with local solicitors, HBC Solicitors and Talbot Law to cover the cost of a basic standard or mirror will. The charity has also partnered with Octopus Legacy to offer a free online will, with the online interview taking just 15 minutes.
The will writing offers also give the option to leave a gift to the hospital charity. Leaving a gift in your will is an amazing way to help your local hospital charity and can support your family in the future. Even a small gift in your will can make a big difference.
Thanks to generous gifts in wills, the hospital charity has been able to fund some amazing appeals and projects, from revolutionary life-saving equipment to refurbishments of the hospital wards.
Brian’s late wife, Joanne, was a lifelong resident of Sutton Coldfield and chose to support Good Hope Hospital with a gift in her will. The generous donation went towards funding the specialist Midwifery Led Unit at the hospital, which provides a relaxing environment for mothers and their partners and enables midwives to focus on the mother’s needs and wishes, helping to reduce stress and anxiety. Brian said, “Joanne was very proud of being born and bred in Sutton Coldfield and wanted to support the local hospital. When I was told about the Midwifery Led Unit I was so pleased that Joanne’s gift was going to something specific. It was very emotional to visit the Unit and I know that Joanne’s gift will support many more generations of local Sutton Coldfield residents.”
Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of the hospital charity said, “We are extremely grateful to our supporters who choose to remember us in their will. Gifts in wills make a huge difference to our hospitals, helping us to continue going over and above for our patients and staff. By leaving a gift you can help save and change lives, it’s a wonderful way to say thank you to your local hospital.”
