Children’s Ward at Sutton Coldfield Hospital receives cash boost from M6toll

Staff from Midland Expressway Ltd (operators of the M6toll) have visited Good Hope Hospital to visit following a donation of £500 towards the refurbishment project for the Children’s Outpatient Department.
Midland Expressway Limited’s (MEL) donation is a great boost to the Charity who will use the funding to obtain sensory equipment for the ward to assist patients with disabilities and learning difficulties. It will also help staff on the ward to ease children’s worries whilst they’re having potentially unpleasant treatment.
Good Hope Hospital treats 30,000 children patients every year and currently the Outpatient department is not very child friendly. The aim is to make the experience less overwhelming for children by transforming the whole department, including the waiting area, reception, play room and consultation room with brightly coloured, non-clinical walls and comfortable furnishings.
Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity said: “By supporting our Children’s Appeal, MEL has already enabled us to purchase sensory equipment and activities for children, we are extremely grateful for their support as are the staff in the department who are thrilled with their new items and the families and children that will benefit from their kind donation.”
Zoe Walters, MEL Social Committee Member added: “It was a pleasure to visit the Children’s Outpatient Department at Good Hope Hospital and see first-hand how our donation will benefit children who visit the ward. I very much look forward to seeing how the ward progresses with all the exciting renovations that are planned.”
