Fortnite Marathon raises over £600 for NHS Superheroes

A group of young gamers have raised an incredible £630 for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s NHS Superheroes appeal by holding an epic 6 hour marathon Fortnite gaming session, which was streamed on their

Samson, Mason, Tommie (all aged 10) and Zach (aged 8), who are together known at the XS Clan, decided to set up the challenge and had an initial target of raising £25. The boys wanted to broadcast their gaming session on their YouTube channel, with Samson being in charge of setting up the technology.

Martyn Riesner, Samson and Zach’s dad, said: “The boys really wanted to do their bit for the NHS and show their appreciation for the staff and came up with this idea themselves. They set about letting their friends and family know and the event worked really well.

“I’m really proud of them for raising so much money, to do an event as a group in these circumstances was difficult but they came up with a really great idea.”

Elle Huguet, Fundraising Officer at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said: “A huge well done goes to Samson, Mason, Tommie and Zach for raising so much money through their Fortnite Challenge! It sounds like they all had great fun taking on the challenge and the money they’ve raised will help us to make a huge difference to our NHS Superheroes, and the patients that they are treating, at this really difficult time.”
