Gemma’s triple fundraising challenge for Good Hope
Gemma Chance is taking on a trio of Charity fundraising events for the Cancer centre at Good Hope Hospital!
Gemma, a Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at the hospital, has decided to take on three fundraising challenges herself, and try and get as many people involved as she can with at least one of the events.
The challenges kick off with climbing Mount Snowdon on September 7, then abseiling down the Wesleyan building in Birmingham on September 28, and finishing off with running the SimplyHealth Great Birmingham half marathon on October 13!
Talking about her challenges, Gemma said: “Climbing, abseiling and running for this fantastic cause will hopefully motivate us all to keep going when training gets tough, just putting one foot in front of the other.”
Gemma treats lots of patients in the Cancer centre at Good Hope and they have all been the inspiration behind her fundraising challenge.
She said: “As a Urology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, I see the day to day struggles patients with cancer face. I am honoured and proud to play a part in their treatment and care and would like to able to contribute something more to make them more comfortable throughout their journey.”
Gemma has managed to get two of her colleagues, Emily and Charmaine, to join in the fundraising and they will each be taking on one event each in support of Gemma and to help raise money!
Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “Thank you so much to Gemma and the team for taking part in so many fundraising challenges for the hospital charity!
“All of the money raised will go straight to the Cancer centre and be spent on added extras for patients, staff and families to make their visits to the hospital more comfortable.”
