Knowle and Dorridge Tangent Club raises an astonishing £1,350 for Solihull Hospital Charity!
Solihull Hospital Charity recently held a cheque presentation with the Knowle and Dorridge Tangent Club (part of the Round Table Family). The hospital charity was chosen as the club's charity partner of the year, thanks to its Chair, Sue Banks, as it is a cause that is very close to her heart.
Throughout the year, the club has worked tirelessly to raise money for Solihull Hospital's Haematology and Oncology Day Unit. The club hosted various events throughout the year that concluded on 3 April 2019. In total, the club raised a fantastic £1,350 to help fund 'added extras' for the Unit that helps to treat thousands of cancer patients each and every year.
A patient’s treatment can range from 3 to 6 sessions over a number of days for up to 10 hours in one day depending on the type of treatment that they are receiving.
Therefore, this is a very stressful and uncomfortable time for not only them but for family members who come with them to their treatment session. In order to help alleviate this stress, the hospital charity works with the Unit to identify items, equipment and facilities that will make a patient’s stay that little bit easier.
Solihull Hospital Charity continues to fund items such as bespoke reclining chemotherapy chairs, lightweight Cooling Caps to combat hair loss whilst receiving chemotherapy to Air Gloves that cannulise veins more effectively; all of which continue to provide a more relaxing and comforting environment for patients.
Rachel Learmonth, Fundraising Manager at Solihull Hospital Charity said: "It was a pleasure to meet Sue and hear about the inspiring work that the Knowle and Dorridge Tangent Club have done. The Charity would like to say a huge thank you to each and every person that helped to raise such a substantial amount for our cancer patients. A special thanks also goes to the Knowle and Dorridge 41 club, who carried out additional fundraising throughout the Christmas period to support the ladies Tangent club!"
