Legion friends make generous donation to Fisher House

Knobby Clarke and Jim Tennant from the Royal British Legion Oldbury Welfare Team visited Fisher House in December to present a cheque for £400 that they raised to support the military home from home.

As well as bringing the cheque in, Knobby and Jim brought along a hamper for the military patients and their families who were in Fisher House over Christmas. This hamper was kindly donated by Joe Bennett.

The Royal British Legion in Oldbury meet regularly to participate in social, fundraising and welfare activities. Jim started to attend the group one year ago, where he came face-to-face with Knobby, with whom he had served around 50 years ago and had not seen since.

The pair now meet up regularly with the rest of the Legion supporting others, raising money as well as enjoying the social side and catching up on the past 50 years!

The team raised money thanks to the support of Wendy and the staff at Mitchells and Butlers, Fleet Street, Birmingham, Karen and the staff at the Co-op Funeral Directors, Oldbury, and staff and customers of Shell Corner Bar, the Shell-ter Halesowen.
