Lianne’s ‘Lockdown Lock-Off’

UHB staff member, Lianne Lovell bravely arranged to have her lovely long, thick hair cut off to be donated to charity and to fundraise for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity. She nicknamed her fundraising challenge Lianne’s ‘Lockdown Lock-Off’!

Lianne said: “I was due a hair cut in April 2020...well that never happened! I decided to turn something negative into a positive. I decided to continue growing my hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust (which provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions) and raise some money for University Hospital Birmingham Trust at the same time. My nephew has alopecia so being able to donate my hair to a child in need holds a special place in my heart as well as give back to the hospital I work at.”

Lianne has raised an incredible £500 for the hospital charity which will be used to help the patients she sees everyday have the best experience possible. All our staff have been incredible this year and Lianne is one of many examples of our staff going over and above for their patients.
