Liver team set to tackle Sunrise Snowdon for QEHB Charity!
Staff from QEHB have decided to take on the daunting trek up Mount Snowdon… in the dark! The gruelling seven hour hiking event will see staff members climb a steep 3,559 feet!
Tahir Shah, Suzanne Vickrage, Ye Oo, Russell Bolton, Darren Smith, Joanne O’Rourke, Matthew Armstrong and Kerrie Wilkins are all part of the fantastic liver team that are taking on this incredible challenge. Some members of the team have previously climbed Mount Snowdon last year raising an incredible £2635 to support the Neuroendocrine Tumour fund.
This year the team have inspired new team members to take part in Sunrise Snowdon. The team are set to conquer Mount Snowdon overnight, reaching the summit as the sun rises!
This year they are aiming to do even better than last year, Tahir Shah said: “Last year there was rain on the way up, and rain on the way down, it made it very challenging but it was still very rewarding. It would be great if we could raise even more than last year!
“We are looking forward to doing the trek as a team, different Liver team professionals will be coming together from management, nurses to surgeons, we will all be fundraising for our department”
Darren Smith said: “Since working for UHB and the liver team, it is amazing to see how charities link in with our patient care and projects to improve such care. Myself along with other members of the liver team are undertaking this challenge to help fundraise to enable the Charity team to continue their excellent support to the service improving patient care.
"I have been touched by various stories of their interaction with the liver team and also the care that is provided as a result of previous charitable funding. I hope you can spare however much is possible to help this great cause. Thank you for your support!”
Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “The Charity is truly grateful to the team for signing up for Sunrise Snowdon. I would like to wish the team good luck on their trek as well as their fundraising! ”
