Solihull School pupils read their way to fundraising total

Pupils from Solihull School have raised a fantastic £1,947 for patients at Solihull Hospital thanks to a sponsored reading challenge that they took part in.

The pupils, now in Year 8, took on the challenge during the last academic year and were asked to read as may books as they could, and get sponsorship from their friends and family.

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising for Solihull Hospital Charity, visited the pupils at Solihull School to thank them for their fundraising efforts. She said: “It was a pleasure to meet with the incredible pupils from Solihull School who worked so hard to raise the funds.”

The money that the pupils have raised will help Solihull Hospital Charity in its appeal to raise money to fund a renovation of the Children’s Outpatients Department at the hospital.

The department treats thousands of young patients, aged from birth to 18 years, each year, with many children making regular trips to the hospital. The appeal is raising money to turn the department into a lighter, brighter and more welcoming environment for children and their parents.

The pupils at Solihull Hospital have not finished with their fundraising efforts to help children at the hospital. Over the coming weeks, the pupils will be donating over 200 selection boxes of chocolate for children at the hospital to enjoy over the Christmas period.

The pupils will be donating the boxes via donation bins around the school site, and the boxes will then be brought to the hospital.
