Sutton Park Tangent donates to Good Hope breast care

The Sutton Park Tangent is a group of ladies who raise money for different charities and this year they chose to donate their money to Good Hope Hospital’s breast care services.

Cathy Lance, who is part of the Sutton Park Tangent, was the inspiration behind this year’s donation as she was treated at Good Hope Hospital for her breast cancer.

Cathy said: “The treatment I had was excellent, I couldn’t fault it. I just found that the breast care nurses were so good and so approachable, it made the situation a lot easier for me.”

Cathy also used to work at Good Hope Hospital in the HR Department until 2009 when she moved to somewhere else and then retired, which is when she found out she had breast cancer.

Talking about the Tangent and what they do, Cathy said: “We are just a group of ladies who get together and spend time together and then donate what funds we have left at the end of the year.

“We used to raise lots of money for charities but now we just donate whatever we can and this year we chose Good Hope’s breast care services because they mean something to me and we like to pick charities that mean something to our members.”

Cathy and the Sutton Park Tangent have donated an incredible £150 which will mean that the hospital charity can provide more added extras for staff and patients on the ward.

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to Cathy and everyone at the Sutton Park Tangent for thinking of us when choosing who to donate your money to.

“The breast care services will be incredibly grateful for the donation and it will mean that they can go on more courses to learn more about breast care and even buy added extras that will benefit patients just like Cathy.”
