CABC Trauma

RCSED's newly launched CABC Trauma is a hybrid course created to meet the training demands of a UK based Major Trauma Centre ‘Trauma Team’. The CABC Trauma course teaches an organised system of assessment, recognition of injury severity and how to deliver life and limb threatening interventions to trauma patients.

The course recognises that optimal trauma care is delivered by trained, multidisciplinary teams from multiple specialties, and the course is designed with these teams in mind. Individuals can demonstrate their competencies in essential and advanced trauma skills, and in being a member of the trauma team (TTM), or they can use the course as a training opportunity to learn these skills and systems from our faculty of surgeons and trauma specialists. Trauma Team Members with suitable experience can progress further, by demonstrating Trauma Team Leader (TTL) competencies.

The course is suitable for all resource settings and acknowledges WHO Global Emergency and Trauma Care Initiative’s principles in essential trauma care, and the NHS ‘Greener Operations’ principles for Sustainable Peri-Operative Practice.
