Course Overview

This full day programme provides an immersive high fidelity simulation experience built around six common surgical scenarios that form the core of the learning journey. Participants will engage in realistic, immersive high pressure environments that mirror the complexity and pace of acute surgical practice within a modern Trust.
Through these immersive simulations, candidates will not only refine a broad range of technical and procedural skills but also gain deeper insight into the critical role of Human Factors, including teamwork, communication, situational awareness, decision making, and patient safety. Each scenario is intentionally challenging and designed to surface the nuanced interactions between clinical performance and human behaviour, enabling participants to recognise and manage real world pressures more effectively.
The programme is closely aligned to the Core Surgical Training Curriculum and specifically supports the development of Capabilities in Practice (CiPs) within a surgical context. By combining immersive high fidelity simulation with structured human factors debriefing, the course offers a powerful and authentic learning experience that enhances clinical competence, confidence, and professional readiness.
