Core Surgical Skills Programme - Section 3
Course Overview
This full-day course provides focused training in human factors and awareness, using six common surgical scenarios as the foundation for learning. Participants will explore the key principles of human factors in practice, with an emphasis on teamwork, decision-making, and patient safety. The programme is closely aligned with the Core Surgical Training Curriculum and is designed to support participants in developing their Capabilities in Practice (CiPs) within a surgical context.
• Facilitator: Consultant or ST3+
• Teaching format: Brief presentation and structured interactive discussion, supported by videos
• Practical component: Supervised skills practice at dedicated stations
• Assessment and feedback: Trainees submit PBAs to the facilitator and complete feedback forms
Who Can Attend?
The course is open to any Dr who is involved in or has an interest in surgery and is working at Resident Dr Level.
