Ann Penson climbs Snowdon for Medical Day Hospital
Fundraiser Ann Penson took part in Sunrise Snowdon back in April to fundraise for the Medical Day Hospital (MDH) at Heartlands Hospital which is an outpatient facility where patients attend for assessment, treatment or rehabilitation during the day to ease the pressures of AMU.
Ann raised a fantastic £520 by climbing the tallest mountain in England and Wales to help to purchase items for the garden at the Medical Day Hospital that is primarily used by older people/stroke patients who are treated at the hospital.
Ann said ‘ I used to work at the Medical Day Hospital for a number of years and even though I don’t work here anymore my heart is still there. There are lots of elderly people I know that have been treated here and the garden is a joyous place, they get to come out and enjoy a change of atmosphere and a bit of fresh air.”
Bernie Goodburn is the Dietetic Assistant Practitioner on the unit and said “the charity has been a huge help in keeping the garden looking lovely for the patients by getting in regular volunteers to keep on top of all of the work and we are so grateful for Ann’s donation.”
Reflecting on her fundraising event, Ann said “ I really enjoyed Snowdon and Bernie and I are going to try and raise a bit more money for elderly as we are doing the charity’s skydive this year too!”
