Angela Linney is the aunt of Alison, a patient on the TCT Young Person’s Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Angela decided to raise money for YPU, and has thus far raised over £400 with help from her family.
The family decided to hold a pub quiz at the Bolingey Inn, the family’s local public house in Cornwall. The pub, which holds fifty seats, was full for the event, with locals even bringing their own chairs so that they would not miss out. The quiz was charged at £1 per person, with a fantastic £71 being raised in total.
As well as this, Angela also held a raffle at the Bolingey Inn which raised £170, as well as placing collecting tins on the bar.
Angela and her husband, Kevan, came to the QE in order to donate the money to YPU on Friday 12 February. This is not the grand finale to the Linney’s fundraising, however, as Angela’s son, Adam, is also going to be holding a quiz at his own pub; he hopes to beat the amount raised thus far. The quiz will be held at The Unicorn pub on Friday 18 March. Angela also hopes to hold a second raffle in the near future.
Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “We are incredibly moved by the efforts that Angela and her family have gone to in order to raise money for YPU. On behalf of the charity, I want to thank them all for their hard work.”
