London Marathon Runner Fundraises for Patients at Birmingham Hospital

On Sunday 27 April 2025, an incredible fundraiser took on one of the most famous running events in the world, the 2025 TCS London Marathon, to fundraise for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) Charity.
Jake Hayden-Wright from Birmingham was fundraising for a cause close to his heart. Jake, who’s a Property and Land Manager at QE, has been inspired to run the marathon to help fund projects that benefit patients undergoing or recovering from treatment at the QE as well as supporting their families.
Jake said: “I’m really proud to be doing the London Marathon. I think that QEHB Charity should be celebrated and supported for all the good that it does for patients and their families.
“I took on this challenge primarily because I want to set a good example to my two girls and show them that they can do anything that they set their mind to. I want them to grow up confident and strong women, not afraid to throw themselves into a challenge if they need or want to. My hope is that by taking on this challenge I set that example.”
Taking on any challenge to fundraise is incredible, especially one as big as the London Marathon. Every penny raised by taking on challenges such as this, have a huge impact, like funding cutting-edge equipment, life-saving research, renovations to help patients have an easier time in hospital, or activities to help patients’ wellbeing.
