Father bikes from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey for the liver department

Nicholas Price took on the bike ride from Wolverhampton to Aberdovey for the Liver Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham after his daughter Olivia had a liver transplant in March.

Olivia said: “Since I was old enough to remember, I needed a new liver. My liver started to show signs of failure in 2014 and so I was placed on the liver transplant list. In March I finally received a liver. I’m now three months post op and doing well.

“The QEHB Liver Foundation supports patients like myself during their stay. Now that I’ve received a successful transplant, I am hoping others can benefit with the help of the foundation.”

So far, Nick has raised over double his original target of £500, he has raised £1,261 and is hoping to be able to raise some more.

Sophie Carroll, Fundraising Officer at the QEHB, said: “On behalf of the Charity here at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, I would like to say thank you to Nick for taking on this huge ride to Aberdovey for the Liver Department. With this money the Charity will be able to provide the Liver Department with added extras for patients just like Olivia.”

The Liver Foundation UK supports liver patients at the QEHB by funding research, equipment and facilities over and above what the NHS can provide.
