Fundraisers go ‘over and above’ for the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital
Layla Parker, along with the help of customers at The Burnt Post pub in Coventry helped to raise an amazing £250!
Tragically, back in April, Amy Jackson and Ryan Kearney’s little boy Jacob sadly passed away at 4:04 pm weighing just 90 grams. Since then his parents have been determined to keep Jacob Ryan Kearney’s memory alive as well as thank Heartlands Hospital and the charities that supported them through such a tragic time. With the help of the couples’ family and friends, they will be participating in the Balsall Common Fun Run on what would have been Jacobs due date, the 23rd September 2018.
The family are aiming to help raise money for precious memory boxes in Jacob’s name and for the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital so that other families who sadly have to go through the same heartache can treasure their keepsakes forever. Memory boxes are boxes that contain irreplaceable keepsakes (such as moulds of the baby’s hands and feet, key rings or scrabble frames) which Heartlands Hospital Charity and the Lily Mae Foundation provides. Amy Jackson, mother of baby Jacob said: “This meant the world to us and they are all we have left of Jacob. The staff at the Eden Suite are a fantastic support and they have the most amazing team of midwives that are there to help, they helped us in creating these everlasting memories.”
Layla Parker, Ryan’s sister-in-law decided to go ‘over and above’ and took it upon herself to help raise money for the Maternity Bereavement Unit at her workplace, The Burnt Post pub by customers donating their money which resulted in a grand total of £250 towards the unit and its added extras.
Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital Charity said: “On behalf of the Charity and the staff who work on the Maternity Bereavement Unit I would like to say a huge thank you! Donations such as this will enable grieving parents to treasure memories of their precious sons or daughters forever, a gift that is truly priceless”
