Fundraisers join together and jump from the skies!
Fundraisers Ann Penson and Bernie Goodburn joined together in 2019 to take part in one of the hospital charity’s skydives to help raise money for the Medical Day Hospital and the stroke wards at Heartlands Hospital.
Ann took on Sunrise Snowdon earlier in 2019 to raise money for the same cause as she used to work in the Medical Day Hospital at Heartlands, and Bernie joined her for her thrilling challenge of jumping 15,000ft out of a plane in a tandem skydive!
The duo raised an incredible £1,138 and plan on doing even more fundraising events in 2020 to help raise even more money!
Richard Bryer, Therapy Support Worker at Heartlands Hospital, said: “A huge thank you goes to both Ann and Bernie for taking on this challenge. The money will be going towards providing much-needed sensory equipment to use for activities in the garden and on the unit.”

The Medical Day Hospital is used primarily for older patients and stroke patients, it offers therapy and support, the new sensory equipment will be able to be used in the garden and on the unit with the patients.
Sabrina Hussaine, Fundraising Officer at Heartlands Hospital Charity, said: “Ann and Bernie have raising an amazing amount of money taking part in the skydive with the hospital charity.
“The unit is extremely grateful for the donations and it will be going towards funding added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can fund.”
