Heartlands Hospital Charity opens space to help families after the loss of a baby

The loss of a baby is indescribable and leaves a lasting impact on parents. To support families dealing with this loss, Heartlands Hospital Charity has opened a newly renovated bereavement suite, to offer peaceful and private en-suite rooms for parents in their time of need.
Tracy Gadd, Bereavement Support Midwife at Heartlands Hospital, said: “We can never take away a family’s pain and grief at the loss of their baby, but we endeavour to make things a little easier by providing the Eden Suite facility to help support families with what they are going through.
“Our refurbished bereavement suite enhances the care we give and provides a private, and safe home from home environment, away from the noise of the rest of the hospital and busy delivery suite. It provides a less clinical space for parents and siblings to spend as much time as they wish with their baby and create precious memories, in a calm, comforting and peaceful space.”
Charlotte Schofield, Director of Fundraising at Heartlands Hospital Charity, said; “Any parent can imagine the heartbreak that families coping with baby loss go through. It is so important that we do all we can to offer comfort and support to families in their time of need and minimise further trauma.”
Heartlands Hospital Charity funds various projects to help parents going through such a traumatic time, like rooms with soothing décor and homely comforts, as well as a private garden for families to take time away from the unit.
