Grandson completes half marathon to support his Grandma

James White has completed the Stratford Half Marathon in a fantastic 1 hour 41 minutes, raising a staggering £1,658 for Heartlands Hospital Charity to support patients on Ward 19.

James was inspired to raise money for Ward 19, a cancer treatment ward at Heartlands Hospital, following the treatment that his grandma received on the ward. James said: "My Grandma has battled cancer and has been treated on Ward 19, still visiting regularly for follow-up appointments.

"She has always spoken highly of the staff on the ward and said that they did a lot to make her feel as comfortable as possible during a very difficult time. I'm delighted to raise money to stregthen the quality of care provided and the facilities on the ward.

"Unfortunately, my Grandma was recently diagnosed with cancer for the second time, so I wanted to help those who are continuing to care for her by raising as much money as possible. I'd like to thank all those who have donated for their incredible support."

Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager for Heartlands Hospital Charity said: "James has done a fantastic job in raising so much money to support staff and patients on Ward 19. The money will help the Charity to provide 'added extras' for staff and patients on the ward, over and above that which the NHS can provide.

"Huge thanks go to James and on behalf of the Charity I would like to wish his Grandma all the best for her continuing treatment."
