Group of friends bare all for testicular cancer research

A group of friends from Birmingham have put on an eye-catching display to raise money for the Testicular Cancer Research Fund at QEHB by performing a display inspired by the Full Monty at Langley Hall Social Club in Solihull.

The group, consisting of Sean Tracey, Mark Brennan, Mike Ryan, Malcolm Teague and Kieran Wynne helped to raise a brilliant £898.55 which will support research into testicular cancer at QEHB. The night of entertainment included a raffle, a name the teddy competition and a DJ set before Sean and his friends put on a memorable performance for 120 people. Special thanks also goes to George Brennan who helped with the music on the day and during rehearsals, drag queen Marty and Valerie who runs Langley Hall Social Club.

This wasn't the group's first time getting their kit off for a good cause. Two years ago the lads bared all to pose for a calender alongside radio presenter Dan Kelly.

Sean Tracey, who presented the cheque to QEHB Charity said: "I was treated at QEHB for testicular cancer 16 years ago, and came back to the hospital regularly for the next seven years or so. My friends and I decided to do something a bit different to raise awareness and money for this great cause.

"I was really nervous on the night and we all needed a little bit of Dutch courage to get through it, especially as so many people were there watching, but the night was a great success and I'm delighted that we raised so much money."

Cathryn Worth, Fundraising Manager at QEHB Charity said: "Huge thanks go from the Charity to Sean, Mark, Mike, Malcolm and Kieran for raising so much for a cause that is close to their hearts. The money will go a long way to support research into testicular cancer, right here in Birmingham."
