Haematology and Oncology Day Unit celebrates its one year anniversary!
Today is a very special day for the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit, both staff and patients are celebrating its one year anniversary in the best way possible... with cakes, pizza and a little bit of fizz!

The new Haematology and Oncology Day Unit opened its doors last year following Solihull Hospital Charity's successful £150,000 fundraising appeal. Before the unit opened, most chemotherapy patients were treated on Ward 19 at Heartlands Hospital or at the Sheldon Unit at Good Hope. Recent years have seen a greater need for chemotherapy treatment, therefore, in order to ease the pressures at Heartlands Hospital, the Solihull unit was opened.
As a charity we aim to go 'over and above' for our cancer patients, providing them with vital equipment to small comforts that will hopefully make their time at the unit that little bit more comfortable.
Today the staff and patients celebrated in style as they tucked into some non-alcoholic fizz kindly provided by Sainsbury's and Waitrose & Partners, delicious cupcakes provided by Marks and Spencer as well as yummy free Pizza given by Bella Italia

The Unit are fundraising to help fund those 'added extras' by holding a luxury raffle with tickets costing £1 each. The raffle prizes have all been kindly donated by local Solihull stores. Some of the prizes include: Everyone Active Gym 12 month membership, TONI & GUY Solihull cut & blow dry, Majestic Wine tasting & nibbles evening for eight people, gift vouchers for Bella Italia, Max Spielmann and Waterstones, Fragrance gift sets and so much more!
