Hospital Staff Defying Gravity at Good Hope Hospital for Charity
On 14 September staff from across the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust are taking on a gravity defying challenge and abseiling from the top of a hospital building to fundraise for Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospital Charity.
One staff member who has signed up is Simon Jarvis, the Executive Director for Good Hope Hospital. He and other staff from across the four hospital sites will tackle their fears and abseil from the top of the Richard Salt Building at Good Hope Hospital.
The hospital charities fund the added extras that are more than what the NHS can provide. This includes state-of-the-art equipment and lifesaving research as well as ward refurbishments, reflective garden spaces, distraction toys for children, and activities to help patient wellbeing. The Charity does everything it can to support patients, their families, and staff while patients are undergoing treatment.
Simon said, “I’m very much looking forward to the abseil, it is set be a fabulous event for the hospital and the Hospital Charity. Good Hope Hospital Charity is a brilliant organisation that supports the hospital and has a really positive impact on how we can help and support patients.
“I’m immensely proud of all of the team at Good Hope, they really are an amazing group of people who are dedicated to supporting their patients and each other, with a real sense of team spirit.”
The hospital Charity has a wide range of fundraising events to offer every year, in and around Birmingham, across the country, and even around the world. Fundraisers for the Charity are also free to choose to raise money for the ward or department that means the most to them.
