Jean celebrates 75th birthday and 24 years of volunteering!
Beloved hospital volunteer, Jean Mannon, has recently celebrated her 75th birthday, which also marks the 24th anniversary of her volunteering for the Trust!
Jean has spent a lot of her time volunteering on the Radiotherapy Tea Bar over the years which fundraises for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity to support the Radiotherapy Department.
Talking about her volunteering, Jean said: “I have been volunteering at the hospital for over 24 years now and I still love it.
“We have raised lots of money for the Charity and the Radiotherapy Department and always like to fundraise in awareness of things like breast cancer.”
Since the beginning of January 2019, the Radiotherapy Tea Bar has raised an incredible £12,000 which goes towards funding added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can fund.
Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising for QEHB Charity, said: “Happy Birthday to Jean and thank you so much for volunteering for the hospital for over 24 years and spending some of that time raising money for the hospital charity.
“We wouldn’t be able to do the things we do without supporters just like yourself so we are extremely grateful for the part you have played in the amazing amount of money the Radiotherapy Tea Bar has raised for the department.
“The money that is raised on the tea bar goes straight to the Radiotherapy Department and has helped us towards fundraising goals for state-of-the-art cancer-busting equipment right down to toys for children who are receiving treatment on the department.”
