Loving mother raises money in memory of beloved daughter
Penny Birch has organised a ‘Zumbathon’ in order to raise funds for QEHB Charity’s Skin Cancer Appeal, supporting patients and staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
The event is taking place at Bardello Health and Fitness from 12 – 1pm on Sunday, 24 April. Tickets are £10, and can be purchased by calling Penny on 0781 055 0563 or Pris on 0785 701 4301. As well the great Zumba workout, Penny will also be holding a raffle on the day.
Penny is raising the money for QEHB Charity’s Skin Cancer Fund in order to give back to the department that treated her daughter, Hayley, who sadly passed away from the illness in 2009 at the age of 25.
“She started to fundraise prior to losing her battle against this deadly disease, and I have carried on with the fundraising since.
“Hayley left me with all her strength, braveness, and positivity to try and raise awareness to other families so that they would not go through the nightmare we did.
“I hope that people will come and have fun at my ‘Zumbathon’ on 24 April in aid of such a worthwhile cause.”
Laura Power, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the fundraising efforts of both Penny and Hayley, and are delighted that Penny has organised what promises to be an incredibly fun event! On behalf of QEHB Charity, I want to wish Penny the best of luck for the ‘Zumbathon’.”
