Luke and Ed complete Tough Mudder in memory of their Mums

Luke and Sam Walter, their cousins and Edward Whitehead have recently taken on a Tough Mudder challenge in memory of two very special women in their lives.

Luke, Sam and Ed’s mums passed away in 2017 and 2018 and they decided to take part in a Tough Mudder in their memory.

Their mums, Kerry and Carol, were both treated for cancer before sadly passing away, so now they all want to do something to raise money for those that looked after them in hospital.

The team completed the 12 mile Tough Mudder challenge in July for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity.

Kerry was a keen athlete and used to get involved with all sorts of challenges, including some Tough Mudder challenges, which Luke took part in with her so this challenge was the perfect one to do in her memory.

Talking about the challenge, Luke said: “The course was a tricky one full of uneven terrain, lots of hill, waist high swamp crossings and of course mud!

“It made it all worth it though to see the amount we have raised. I may not have had my mom running alongside me this year but to do it in her memory whilst giving back to the people who cared for her for so long feels like a mini victory in itself.”

All together, the team raised £1,380 for the hospital charity which will help us go over and above for patients, staff and families at the hospital by providing added extras throughout the hospital.
