Last Wednesday University Hospitals Birmingham Charity was invited to attend the meeting of the Bromsgrove and Redditch NHS Retirement Fellowship who meet at Catshill Methodist Church.
The fellowship is a social club for retired NHS staff who meet fortnightly throughout the year. As part of their meetings they run raffles and generously support a variety of charities. Last week the group kindly presented a cheque to UHB Charity in partnership with another organisation that some of their members are involved with.
Together the Upper GI Cancer Support Group and the Bromsgrove and Redditch NHS Retirement Fellowship presented Cathryn Worth from the hospital charity with a cheque for £2,400! The funds raised by these two groups will be used to support the work of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingam, specifically one of the cancer funds at the hospital.
Cathryn said “it’s thanks to the support of people and groups like these that University Hospitals Birmingham Charity are able to support patients in areas over and above NHS funding. This can include anything from research, cutting edge equipment, improving facilities or items for a ward to make patients’ stays more comfortable. It’s testament to all those who once worked for the NHS, continue to support its work in this way.”
