Proud dad rides 100 miles for Charity

Over the past 12 months, Guy Dunstan’s daughter has been receiving treatment at both Heartlands and Solihull hospitals, and after she was born at Heartlands, her brother born at Solihull, and a lot of his family have benefitted from the care of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Now, Guy has decided to take on Velo Birmingham & Midlands in aid of the hospital charity.

Talking about the care he and his family have received from the hospitals over the years, he said: “I’m really pleased I can support them by doing this challenge.

“It’s a great and unique opportunity to cycle around the area that I know so well with 17,000 other people.”
As well as taking on the new challenge of cycling 100 miles around the Midlands, Guy has also completed marathons, climbed the three peaks and taken part in the Coast to Coast bike ride. Talking about all of the challenges he has completed in the past, Guy said: “I love a challenge and try to do something every year.

“Training is going really well, I’m ready to do the 100 miles now. The highlight of my training was going on a training ride with Chris Boardman organised by the Charity. I was buzzing after cycling with such a legend and he was such a nice man and an inspiration for us all.

“I can’t wait for Velo. I think the atmosphere is going to be brilliant and we go through Dorridge, which is where I live, after around 70 miles so it will be a boost to see my family and friends supporting us.”

So far, Guy has raised over £1,000 to support the hospital charity and you can support Guy with his challenge by clicking here.
