Pub & punters raise thousands for brain tumour research

Kind-hearted staff and customers at a Staffordshire pub have raised thousands to support brain tumour research at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Staff and customers at The Wrottesley Arms, Perton, raised a fantastic £2,461 for QEHB Charity's Giles' Trust, which funds ground-breaking brain tumour research in Birmingham, through a variety of creative and quirky fundraising initatives, including a non-stop pool tournament!

The pub also held a Fun Day on the evening of Saturday, 28 May, complete with a bouncy castle, barbeque, and live music. Landlady Samantha Wilkes, along with other staff members, kindly presented a cheque to QEHB Charity's Communications Officer, Becca Harris.

Becca said: “We are incredibly grateful to the staff and customers at The Wrottesley Arms for being able to find the time to do so much fundraising for the Giles' Trust.

"This fantastic amount will make such a huge difference to patients with brain tumours at the QE and further afield, as The Giles’ Trust strives to bring more funding to brain tumour research.

"We are excited to be able to use this donation to help fund a Clinical Research Nurse, who will enable brain tumour patients to access some of the most advanced drugs in the world."

Samantha added: “We are delighted that we have managed to raise several thousands of pounds to fund brain tumour research; we hope that it will make a difference.”
