QEHB Charity wins LoveBrum's Physical Cause grant
LoveBrum visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham on 4 November to present a cheque for £2,000 to QEHB Charity!
QEHB Charity was the successful charity in LoveBrum’s cause of the month competition in October this year for the Little Heroes Wear Masks scheme thanks to incredible people like you!
The hospital treats hundreds of children and young people with cancer every year, and they need to wear a mask during radiotherapy to keep their heads still throughout their treatment.
Kate Grantham, Charity Operations Manager for LoveBrum, said: “We’re so pleased that everyone is so excited about winning the grant, we’re looking forward to hearing more about your Little Heroes Wear Masks scheme and seeing some of the amazing masks you get designed!”
The hospital charity will now be able to fund an artist to paint up to 250 radiotherapy masks for our young cancer patients, making their cancer journey just that little bit less daunting.
Children and young people can now request a bespoke radiotherapy mask which can be a dinosaur, butterfly, superhero or a princess!
Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraiser for QEHB Charity, said: “I would once again like to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you that voted for our Little Heroes Wear Masks Scheme.
“This will really make a huge difference to a young cancer patient’s journey. Cancer treatments can be extremely confusing for young patients and they often feel that they have no control over what is going on.
“With the Little Heroes Wear Masks Scheme we will be able to give them a sense of control back in their lives as well as make the process as smooth as possible for them, their parents and the staff.”
