Shooting Stars raise money for Heartlands

Shooting Stars Nursery in Bromsgrove held their annual summer fete this year and chose to raise money for Heartlands Hospital Charity because of one of their inspiration children who was treated there.

The little girl who inspired the fundraising for Heartlands Hospital Charity was born prematurely at the hospital at around 26 weeks and had to have a tracheostomy which involves creating an opening in the neck to place a tube into a person’s windpipe. The tube is inserted through a cut in the neck which allows air to enter the lungs.

Talking about the summer fete, Lucia Morgan, Baby Room Leader and Events Coordinator at the nursery, said: “We always choose a charity that means something to one of us or to one of our children here.

“This year we had a bouncy castle, glitter tattoos, face painting, tombola and so much more. It was a lovely day and so many people came and supported us and had a good day.”

The team at Shooting Stars Nursery in Bromsgrove raised an incredible £600.31 for Heartlands Hospital Charity.

Heartlands Hospital Charity aims to fund added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can fund for patients, staff and families at the hospital. Thanks to incredible donations like this from Shooting Stars Nursery, we are able to purchase those added extras that make a difference in the hospital.

Sabrina Hussaine, Fundraising Officer for Heartlands Hospital Charity, said: “Thank you so much to everyone at Shooting Stars Nursery in Bromsgrove who went to their summer fete and helped raise money for the hospital charity!

“The money raised will make a huge difference to patients, staff and families across the hospital.”
