Special Christmas trees arrive at Cancer Centre
The Radiotherapy Department and the Cancer Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham are looking festive thanks to two very special Christmas trees which have been generously funded by the Get-Ahead Charitable Trust.
The tree in the Radiotherapy Department is particularly special, as it is decorated with soft toys, ready to be picked up and taken home by children who are at the hospital to receive radiotherapy treatment over the Christmas period.
Liam Herbert, Specialist Paediatric Radiographer, said: “We are all delighted to see this special tree go up in the Radiotherapy Department. Each year these amazing trees make such a difference to our young patients who are being treated for cancer.
“Having radiotherapy treatment is tough on young children and can make them feel really poorly, that’s why it’s so important to be able to give toys to children when they finish their treatment.”
Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “Our thanks go to Get-Ahead Charitable Trust for their kind donation which has funded these two very special trees for our cancer patients here at the hospital.
“Each year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters and organisations like Get-Ahead, we are able to bring some festive magic to the hospital, brightening up the hospital-experience for all those who visit us over the Christmas period.”
