Stechford Mobility get moving with £30,000 Charity partnership
A South Birmingham based company, Stechford Mobility, has pledged to raise a fantastic £30,000 for Heartlands Hospital's Neonatal Unit.
Martyn Thomas, along with his family who own the company, chose to raise funds for the unit after his daughter, Lyla, was born nine weeks premature, weighing a mere 3lbs 7oz. Lyla spent four weeks in the Neonatal Unit at Heartlands and Martyn and his wife, Hannah were so impressed with the care they received they wanted to give something back.
"The care Lyla received and the support they gave to my wife and I during such a difficult time will stay with us for the rest of our lives. The unit deserves every penny and we are excited to help them to continue to provide such incredible care for those who need it most."
In 2017, Stechford Mobility kindly donated six height adjustable chairs to replace the uncomfortable hard chairs that were in place whilst Martyn and Hannah were on the unit.
Martyn and the team plan to raise the funds by getting down and dirty on four seasonal wolf runs, 10K extreme obstacle courses, and a Tough Mudder, another 'military style' obstacle run. As well as the runs, Lyla's grandad and the company's Managing Director plan to ride non-stop from Birmingham to Edinburgh castle on Vespa scooters!
Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital said: "I am excited to begin this year-long partnership with Stechford Mobility and I wish them the best of luck with their extreme challenges!"
