Stourbridge man to take to the skies in memory of his wife

Nick West will be taking on a tandem skydive this summer to raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity in memory of his wife Lorraine, who sadly passed away on 16 March 2018.

Lorraine, known to her family and friends as Loz, was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in September 2017 and sadly she never returned home.

Loz had been experiencing poor health for the five years running up to her admission, and had a number of fairly severe complications, before passing away as the result of a brain stem stroke.

Nick said: “On 20 July 2019 we would have been married for 23 years, and to celebrate this I will be jumping out of a light aircraft over an airfield in Oxford, raising money for QEHB Charity.

“All of the staff involved with the care of my wife worked tirelessly to try and give her a life that she could live. Sadly for Loz, this was not the case, but medical advancement continues to happen and hospitals such as QEHB lead the way in research and developments of new treatments.”

Roisin Mooney, Fundraising Events Assistant at QEHB Charity, said: “It is wonderful that Nick is taking on a skydive in memory of Loz, and raising money to support the hospital charity. We’ll all be wishing him well for the big day, and it will be great seeing him land after completing the challenge.”
