The Upper GI Support Group raised a fantastic £1,210 for the Upper GI Fund through a raffle and an auction. Many fabulous prizes were donated to the group, from chocolates to vouchers to a race day experience at Silverstone.
The evening was attended by members of the Upper GI Support Group as well as medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham plus Fundraising Manager for QEHB Charity, Cathryn Worth and members of a local NHS retirement group.
Cathryn Worth said: “Thank you to the Upper GI Support Group for holding such a lovely evening. It was a fantastic opportunity for previous patients to catch up with their consultants and nurses and also for current patients undergoing oesophageal cancer treatment to talk openly about their experiences too. The hospital charity is delighted to receive the donation of £1,210 that will help to fund vital research into oesophageal cancer as well as other added extras that are over and above what the NHS can fund. Thank you team!”
