Ward 19 Ball brings in over £2,000 to support cancer patients
Ward 19 is the specialist cancer ward at Heartlands Hospital, which treats patients with a wide range of cancers, including breast, leukaemia, lung and prostate cancer. Each year, the Ward 19 team hold a fundraising ball to raise money to fund equipment that is ‘over and above’ that which the NHS is able to fund.
Earlier this month, the Ward 19 Ball took place and raised over £2,000 for the ward. This popular event was attended by staff, patients and families, and was complete with live music, a raffle and an auction as well as a delicious dinner.
The auction raised a fantastic amount of money thanks to the amazing prizes on offer, which included a table at Henry Wong Harborne, hosted by the Ward 19 consultants, a holiday in Devon and a chauffeur experience in a Rolls Royce.
Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital Charity, said: “Once again the Ward 19 Ball was a fantastic evening of fundraising! Huge thanks go to the amazing Kathy Holder who works so hard to organise the event each year. The money raised will help to team to do even more for their patients.”
Earlier this year, the Ward 19 team won the Team of the Year Award at UHB Trust’s Building Healthier Lives Awards. The team are pictured above with patient Tom Walker who nominated the team for the award.
