4 friends, 15 hours of golf, 1 purpose!

This summer QEHB Charity Supporter, Daniel Cruickshank and three friends Ryan Hancox-Parkes, Jason Sellman and Chris Bruerton all decided to raise money for QEHB Charity.

The four fundraisers played golf for a staggering 15 consecutive hours. The group started at six in the morning and got to know Rodway Hill Golf Club in Gloucestershire extremely well during their mammoth game!

The reason for their fundraising event was to raise funds for the Neuro Surgery Ward Fund at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham as Daniel’s wife, Leanne, was treated on the ward back in 2006. The family and their friends are no strangers to fundraising for the Charity, having raised money before.

Daniel said: “We are just so grateful for the care and support Leanne had on the ward whilst she received treatment for her brain tumour and raising funds is just our way of saying thank you. A special thank you to Claire Goddard, Fred Berki and Prof Cruickshank who we wish a happy retirement. We’re also really fortunate to have great friends around us who support us with our fundraising and do things like spending from dawn until dusk on a golf course with me! A special thank you also to Fielders Club at Old Swinford Primary School for their fundraising too”

The four raised a grand total of £1,478 towards the Neuro Surgery Ward. Cathryn Worth, Fundraising Manager for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity said: “Thank you team for supporting QEHB Charity. Your donations will be able to continue to provide the ‘added extras’ that support patients and staff across QEHB.
