Alick Cushing is taking on the ultimate challenge this October for QEHB Charity!

Alick will be participating in the Great Birmingham Run on 13 October 2019, a 13.1 mile course that will run straight through the heart of Birmingham with thousands of supporters taking to the streets to cheer their friends and family on.

This will be Alick’s first time running the Great Birmingham Run for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity. Alick’s reason for fundraising for QEHB Charity is close to his heart. His Mother was diagnosed with a systemic autoimmune disease called lupus at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and in Alick’s words the family have "always been incredibly grateful for their care.”

His father also received care from the audiology department after he was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a rare, tumour that develops on the balance nerve between the brain and inner ear. Alick said: “The hospital have been fantastic. I’m obviously forever grateful to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for all it has done for my family. I’ve recently undertaken work experience in medical physics at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and have absolutely loved every minute of it.”

Alick often runs for charity and is on a mission to beat his time of 1 hour 47 minutes and has already raised a fantastic £320 for QEHB Charity. If you would like to help support Alick, please visit his JustGiving page here:
