Birmingham City Council supports liver patients
Kind hearted employees at Birmingham City Council (Adult Social Care) have raised over £700 to support liver patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Zakia Loughead and Jaspreet Ubhi, who work at Birmingham City Council, presented QEHB Charity’s Fundraising Officer Sian Averill, and Liver Outpatients Sister Claire Maguire, with a cheque for a brilliant £726.
The pair were approached by former QEHB patient Parmajit Kalsi, who had a liver transplant at QEHB in 2006. Zakia said: “Following our meeting with Parmajit, we were incredibly inspired to support such a fantastic hospital that does so much for people in our local community.”
The Council’s charity committee chose to support QEHB Charity, and raised the fantastic total by holding a fundraising rounders match in June.
Sian said: “We are incredibly grateful to Birmingham City Council for supporting patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham’s liver department. Every penny raised helps us go that extra mile for patients, as we strive to provide research, facilities and equipment over and above what the NHS can pay for.”
