Family run marathon in memory of dad

Christopher Brain sadly passed away suddenly in February at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and now his family, Sarah Brain and his daughter Charlotte, want to fundraise to help provide those ‘added extras’ for patients.

After Christopher suddenly passed away, Sarah’s husband, Steve Brain was admitted to QEHB and was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) which is an incurable condition. The lifelong condition can cause problems with balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing.

As Steve is currently being treated at QEHB and Christopher passed away earlier in the year, the two are running in memory of him and to raise money for PSP at the hospital.

Sarah and Charlotte ran through the pouring rain and made it to the end and have a raised a huge £680!

The couple were supposed to get married on Monday 22 October but Steve was too unwell to leave the hospital, so they had their ceremony in the hospital chapel!

Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraiser for QEHB Charity, said: “Well done to Sarah and Charlotte for running through the hard times and raising money for such a worthy cause. The two have had a tough year but have come out fighting and all of the money they have raised will go towards ‘added extras’ for patients, staff and families at the hospital.

“Congratulations also goes to the newly weds, Sarah and Steve!”
