Forster family provide a generous donation for QEHB Charity
Tim Forster sadly passed away on 13 November 2018. Despite his passing, Tim’s family were determined to keep his memory alive by donating an astonishing £1,467 to QEHB Charity.
Tim had been a patient at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for over 26 years after collapsing unexpectedly at the age of just 42. In 1992 he had a heart transplant performed by surgeon Mr Bonser and was back at work within six months of having the heart transplant. Later, Tim sadly was admitted to QEHB following issues with his kidney and subsequently had to go on dialysis.
In 2010 after a previous kidney transplantation failure, Tim finally had the call that a kidney was available and the surgery was a success. Despite Tim’s frequent trips to the hospital, he was able to do the things that he enjoyed the most such as dancing with his wife Dorothy and being a wonderful father to his three children. Dorothy said, “Tim was such an active and resilient man, he would rock climb and I have seen him run up mountains!”
In September 2018 Tim sadly was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that spread to different parts of the body. During his time at QEHB, Dorothy said: “Tim had quite a few procedures over the years, and was extremely well looked after by everyone”. Unfortunately, by the time a treatment was found for Tim he was far too poorly to receive it and he passed away.
Tim’s funeral proved a testament to his character as there were over 300 attendees who all generously donated in memory of Tim. Dorothy said: “As a family, we would like to donate the money raised to QEHB Charity. We know this will be used well as Tim and I always read the Charity newsletters on our many journeys to the hospital for his many appointment and procedures”.
Cathryn Worth, Fundraising Manager at QEHB Charity said: “The hospital charity is extremely grateful to the Forster family for donating this generous amount of money. Your donation will be able to provide vital equipment that will be able to benefit patients, thank you!”
