Nurses climb three peaks in aid of cancer patients
Five nurses have set themselves the challenge of climbing the three peaks in May to raise money for the Cancer appeal at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Will Partington and his colleagues have all known someone who has had, or still has, cancer so have decided to fundraise for the appeal that is close to their hearts.
The Cancer appeal at QEHB aims to make a huge difference to the people who are treated for cancer at the hospital. In the past, fundraisers like this have helped us towards our goal of buying life-saving machines such as CyberKnife and TomoTherapy.
Will, one of the nurses taking part in the challenge, said: “There are five of us from Ward 516, a respiratory ward, who have chosen to take on the challenge and fundraise for the Charity, especially for the Cancer appeal.
“A few of us have lost family members to cancer and we also treat a lot of cancer patients on our ward. We’ve decided to go for quite a hard challenge and try and raise as much money as possible. We’re all excited but some of us haven’t done anything like this before!”
Every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer, and we at the Charity want to support every single one of those that passes through our hospital, and with your help, we can make sure that we give the best possible care.
