Parents of son treated on YPU assist their daughter in her fundraising endeavours

Hannah Stuart, sister of YPU patient Sandy Stuart, will be taking to the streets of London on Sunday 24 April as she tackles the infamous Virgin London Marathon in order to raise funds for the Young Persons Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

In order to assist Hannah with her fundraising endeavours, Linda and Irvine Stuart, Hannah’s parents, held a fundraising lunch at The Boot Inn, Lapworth, on Monday 11 April.

The event consisted of a fabulous three-course lunch and ‘birthday raffle’, where each attendee placed their birth date and a donation into an envelope. One person from each table whose birthday was drawn won a bottle of champagne.

A fantastic £1,238.05 was raised for YPU. During the lunch, Irvine Stuart read a statement written by Sandy, who received treatment on YPU in 20009, in order to explain more about his experience and to thank everyone for their support.

Cathryn Worth, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “The support that the members of the Stuart family give one another is truly heart-warming. Linda and Irvine put a lot of effort into the fundraising lunch; on behalf of QEHB Charity, I want to thank both for their hard work. I also want to wish Hannah the best of luck for the Virgin London Marathon!”
