Recruitment firm take on Velo for QEHB Charity

Five members of staff from SF Recruitment, a recruiting agency in Birmingham, have signed up to do a 100 mile bike ride in aid of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity.

The group, along with 1,000 other QEHB Charity riders, have decided to take on Velo Birmingham & Midlands on Sunday 12 May where they will need to cycle 100 miles in one day to complete the challenge!

Michael Lattimer, one of the members of the group, said: “A member of my immediate family was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer in October 2018 and the Charity, and the hospital, supported him massively and helped provide extremely good care and a great environment for him.

“Whenever I visited him in hospital I knew I wanted to do something to say thank you for looking after him and this seemed like a good way to do that.”

Three of Michael’s colleagues, Dominic Birchall, Paul Sumner and the company’s Chairman Luke Williams are also taking part, and a family friend, Mark Hoban joined the team from the local school.

Talking about the challenge, Michael said: “Cycling 100 miles is no easy feat so I hoped people would sponsor and support us which they have massively.

“Finding the time to train has been very hard, especially over the colder months. Juggling a job and three small kids has been tough! Finishing 100 miles will feel like a massive achievement!”

Since signing up to Velo, the team have so far raised over £3,000! They want to hit their target of £5,000 which you can help them with by donating to support them now at justgiving.com/sfrecruitment.
