Selly Oak branch of Access Self Storage spreads Christmas cheer

The team at the Selly Oak branch of Access Self Storage has donated presents to QEHB Charity for the third year in a row, with help from the generous Birmingham community.

The presents will be distributed to the children being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham over the festive period, from long-term patients on the Young Person’s Unit, children coming to the QE for radiotherapy, to children coming to A&E on Christmas Day itself.

One of the largest contributions of toys to the campaign was from the West Mercia Police, North Worcester Division. Nigel Barter, Researcher at West Mercia Police, also organised collections at Redditch, Kidderminster and Bromsgrove police stations. Nigel’s enthusiasm resulted in him gathering four large boxes of toys.

As well as Access Self Storage organising this annual campaign at Christmas, the Selly Oak branch also collects Easter gifts for patients at the QE. Their support is far-reaching and invaluable.

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising, said: “The continuing support of the Selly Oak branch of Access Self Storage is fantastic. The difference a toy makes to a child coming to the QE over the festive period cannot be understated; a little piece of familiarity in a hospital that is so different from the colourful Children’s Hospital is invaluable not only to the child, but the child’s parents. On behalf of QEHB Charity, I want to thank the team at Access Self Storage, Selly Oak, for their continuing hard work and support."
