Team Lewis climbs obstacles in memory of beloved Dad
In April 2018, Kevin Lewis sadly passed after battling cancer. He was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and now his wife and children want to do all they can to raise money for the new Mobile CT Scanner the hospital charity will be purchasing.
Team Lewis, a group of 13 members of the family, all took part in the Gung-Ho challenge in Cofton Park on the anniversary of Kevin’s death and have so far raised over £1,000 towards the Mobile CT Scanner appeal!
Talking about why they wanted to fundraise for this appeal, Kevin’s daughter, Hannah, said: “When my dad had to be taken down for his scan, it was like a military operation. He had about three stands of drips, his life support machine and then there was him as well. It was really hard.”

Kevin spent a total of eight weeks at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and was treated on two different wards before he was moved to Critical Care where he spent four weeks.
The challenge involved a 5k race and 11 obstacle courses where the team had to jump through holes, go over and under things and climb huge walls to make their way around, and they took part during Storm Hannah!
Hannah said: “It was very tiring but we loved it. We all had a laugh and were giggling at each other all the way around.”
The team are hoping to take part in even more challenges to raise money in memory of their Dad and husband.
Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “A huge well done to Team Lewis for completing the Gung Ho challenge for the Mobile CT Scanner appeal.
“The new CT scanner will allow radiographers to do urgent scans at the patient’s bedside. Around 150 patients will use the scanner a year so it will really make a huge difference to them.”
