Three friends prepare to take on 100 mile challenge

This Sunday, 17,000 cyclists will be taking to the roads for Velo Birmingham & Midlands 2019, an epic 100 mile cycling challenge. Amongst those riders will be three friends, Jovan, John and Dan who are all cycling for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity in order to give something back to the hospital.

The team, who call themselves ‘A fat man, an old man and an iron man’ are riding for the hospital as they have all experienced the treatment that the hospital offers. Jovan said: “We all wanted to give something back to the hospital and we hope to encourage others to do the same. John and I have both had a few health issues over the last couple of years, and we both got on a bike to try to get fitter and stronger both mentally and physically.

“We chose to take on Velo Birmingham & Midlands 2019 because it’s a million miles out of our comfort zone and is a huge stretch for both of us.”

Their friend, Dan Fisher, is also taking on the challenge alongside them but is more used to these sort of challenges. Jovan said: “Iron Man Dan is doing it with us, not only to help raise money for the charity but also because he wanted to give some much needed moral support and experience of riding the distance. He’s a good chap!”

The three friends have already raised an incredible £1,638 for QEHB Charity, and hope that their efforts on Sunday will inspire even more donations.
